James David Spurlin, II
Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer

James David is the youngest child of Jim and Libby Spurlin. He graduated from Garrard County High School in 2007 and Mid-America College of Funeral Service in 2009, with honors. After passing his national and state boards, he is now a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. In his spare time, James David spends time with family and friends and loves attending Bengals games.

Harold Meadows

Harold was born and raised in Garrard County. He and his wife of 66 years, Arber Della, have one daughter, Haroletha Klausing (Robert), four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Harold was a longtime business owner in Garrard County and a current member of the Lancaster Baptist Church, where he serves as Head Usher. Harold has been a vital part of Spurlin Funeral Home for many years. When Harold is not at Spurlin Funeral Home, you can always find him enjoying his favorite past time of fishing.

Daryl Hodge

Daryl and his family have been active members in the Garrard County community for 28 years. He served as the minister of Lancaster Nazarene Church for 19 and half years. Daryl has been married to Marcia, his wife of 36 years. Daryl and Marcia have served together in their church, as well Garrard County. Marcia serves as Director of the Garrard County Health Department, while Daryl is Chaplain of the Christian Care Center and Coroner of Garrard County.

Daryl and Marcia have two sons: Brian Hodge who resides in Morehead, Kentucky and John Hodge and his wife Stephanie, who reside in Boyle County, with their two children Thad and Ali Hulett. Daryl has been with Spurlin Funeral Home for five years, where his love for the Lord and compassion for people is a blessing to the Garrard County community.

Bill Borden

Bill Borden has lived in Garrard County since 1971. He and his wife, Martha have been very active in their community and their church. They have been members of Lancaster Methodist Church since the early 70ís. They have two sons: Brian Borden (Carrie) and Thomas Joseph Borden. Bill and Martha have been blessed with two grandchildren and two great granddaughters.

Bill was in the Drafting Department with GM for 14 years and a teacher at the Garrard County Vocational School for 27 years. He and Martha have been adoptive grandparents to many children of Garrard County through the years, helping raise and providing wonderful care for them.

Bill has been with Spurlin Funeral Home for several years and provides a warm welcome and a friendly smile to all.

Barbara Mercer

Barbara and her late husband Robert Mercer have been active in the farming communities of Lincoln and Garrard Counties for many years. Robert and Barbara were married for 54 years and have four children: Bruce Mercer, Barry Mercer (Judy), Brian Mercer (Beth), Beverly Arave (Kevin). They were blessed with 8 wonderful grandchildren.

Barbara is a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, where she has been their music director since 1961. She continually uses her musical talents at Spurlin Funeral Home, where she has been the organist for the past 14 years.

Mary Lee Sharp

Mary Lee was born and raised in Garrard County and has been a part of Spurlin Funeral home for 14 years. She has been married to Horace Sharp for 58 years. She and Horace are members of Pleasant Grove Christian Church where she has been their pianist for 55 years.

She was an employee of Whitaker Bank for 40 years where she retired as the Assistant Vice President in 1992. She and Horace are vital to their community by being very active members of their church and the DAV.
